Kuwait city : Indian Muslim Association (IMA) Kuwait Ladies Wing organized an impactful Awareness Program on September 28, 2024, at Al-Najat Typical School Auditorium in Mangaf. The Event aimed at addressing Modern Societal Challenges such as Unlimited Freedom, declining Morality and the dangers of Excessive Electronic Device Usage, attracted a large gathering of families and children from across Kuwait. Parvez Hanif, a renowned speaker delivered an engaging talk titled ‘Morality is Freedom’ emphasizing that true freedom is achieved only when guided by moral values, allowing individuals to choose their beliefs, think independently, and express opinions freely. He criticized Western notions of freedom, describing them as modern-day slavery driven by market forces and capitalist lobbies behind trends like live-in relationships and LGBT movements, which undermine marriage and social values. He called for individuals, society & the state to uphold moral values, emphasizing the role of religion and legal reforms in protecting women, children and traditional institutions like marriage. Dr. Susovanna Sujit Nair, a Medical Oncologist at Kuwait Cancer Control Center and the main Speaker of the Evening then took the stage to address the audience on the Topic of the Event ‘Adverse Effects of Prolonged Use of Electronic Gadgets’. Through her presentation, she highlighted the growing health concerns associated with the extended use of electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops and their several harmful effects on various parts of the human body. She emphasized that excessive screen time can lead to eye strain, dry eyes, and potential vision problems. Additionally, poor posture associated with device use often results in pain in neck, spine, back, and shoulder. The doctor further addressed the neurological and psychological impacts resulting in sleep disturbances & mental health risks including increased anxiety, depression and attention disorders particularly in relation to constant connectivity, social media pressures, and reduced face-to-face interactions. She concluded with a call to balance technology use with healthier habits, advocating for regular breaks, ergonomic practices and mindful usage to reduce these risks.

The event commenced with a recitation from the Quran by Master Mohammed Sulaiman Shareef, setting a thoughtful tone for the evening. The program concluded with an interactive Q & A session with Dr Susovanna, followed by a prize distribution to encourage audience participation. Sister Sameena Khan expressed gratitude with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks. The event was well conducted by Br Fayaz, keeping audience engaged throughout.
